Telerik | Packers New Mobile Site Wins Website of the Year Award

“Our shared goal was to make the mobile website an extension of the team itself, which is arguably the most storied franchise in the NFL.”
The Green Bay Packers released an official press release this week detailing its new mobile website, which was designed by Code and Theory:
GREEN BAY, WI – The Green Bay Packers’ new mobile website, which debuted in the last year, has been honored with a Telerik Sitefinity Website of the Year Award in the Sports category, the Packers announced today.
Telerik, a Progress Company, and provider of Telerik Sitefinity CMS, honors websites each year for outstanding creativity and design. The Website of the Year Award recognizes the Packers’ mobile site for its presentation, functionality and overall visitor experience, designed to bring fans content from packers.com more effectively on their mobile phones and tablets.
“Packers fans are so important to the success of the team, and we wanted to design a new mobile website that would enhance their experience,” said Duke Bobber, digital producer for the Packers. “We are proud to be recognized by Telerik Sitefinity for our new mobile site, which has allowed our dedicated fans the opportunity to connect with the team anytime, anywhere.”
Separate from the Packers mobile app, the mobile site features a more responsive user experience, redesigned to adjust throughout the week in order to prioritize the most important content for Packers fans to know.
“On behalf of Progress, I would like to congratulate the Packers as a 2014 Telerik Sitefinity Website of the Year winner,” said Martin Kirov, Vice President, of Product Management and Product Marketing for Sitefinity, Telerik. “Without exception, all of the winning companies have proven their dedication to creating a sophisticated and engaging web presence with the help of Sitefinity CMS.”
The Packers partnered with the creative agency Code and Theory on the design and functionality, and worked with Americaneagle.com to develop, implement and host the new, mobile-friendly site.
Aimed at allowing fans to consume, share and discover the latest Packers updates, the award-winning site combines news, video, photo galleries, rosters, gameday information, live game scores and team history. It also establishes story arcs, which are packages of content selected by the site editor to give users more context behind the big story, from start to finish.
"We are thrilled to have collaborated with the Packers on creating a more seamless mobile web experience that focuses on giving their fiercely loyal fans exactly what they want, when they want it," said Mike Treff, Managing Partner of the Product Design Group at Code and Theory.
To see the award-winning design, fans can access the new mobile site by navigating to packers.com on a mobile web browser, either with a phone or tablet, or entering m.packers.com in a desktop web browser.
“Americaneagle.com is proud to be working with one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises, the Green Bay Packers,” said Mike Svanascini, President of Americaneagle.com. “The new mobile site introduces a myriad of rich media that offers fans instant access to content, with the goal of creating an even deeper connection with fans by introducing engaging functionality over time.”
