A Platform Redesign That Supports Children From Local Nonprofits Across The United States
1
The Background
Daymaker is a nonprofit that makes it easy for companies and individuals to directly support children from local nonprofits across the United States. When we began our partnership with the Daymaker team, they were looking ahead to their Back to School campaign launch that would help get kids the resources they need for the upcoming school year. In preparation for that launch, they needed their brand to come through on their donation platform experience so they could inspire users with the joy of giving back.

The Challenge
We took direction from their marketing site design and used that as our guide to develop design principles for their platform experience. We partnered with the Daymaker team to understand their current brand, what is essential to keep from their current donation platform, and where their team wanted to improve it. Then, we began to reimagine their experience – thinking critically about the experience, user flows, and the mindsets of donors to craft a new experience designed to bring joy & connection in the donation process. We identified key journey principles that would deliver the most empathetic impact to users – make it easy, lead with joy, and bring through the stories of these children.

The Outcome
To bring these principles through to our design, we kept the children and their stories at the center of our work. We launched the Back to School campaign with the Daymaker team, where we highlight the joy of giving, and the impact of donations on these children’s lives and the communities they live in.
