Starwood SPG.tv
SPG.tv was a portal site housing more than 9,000 brand and location videos of Starwood Preferred Guest hotels from across the world.
From location-based videos like New York City restaurants, to virtual tours of hotels and its many amenities, the new interface we developed allowed users to search and browse a variety of content via a multivariable search, keyword, and/or brand.
The homepage featured a data visualization search that interfaced with the Asset Manager API to search metadata and taxonomies associated with each asset. This interface was built on top of the core API by using a template to customize how the data was displayed for ingest by the Flash application.
The browsing tool for brands and locations was powered by a Category Manager. The system allowed the client to define several types of category hierarchies—including brand, city, and continent. Users could browse by one or more of these category types to find the content that they were looking for. The content could be filtered by city, continent, and/or brand with a few simple clicks.
The Keywords page allowed the user to browse popular tags filtered by specific content types in the system. The user could simply click a category to see the most popular content associated with the tags, and immediately see all of the videos that have been tagged with that keyword.
